The sporty XS 400R Seca, effectively the successor to the two-stroke RD400 in Yamaha's range, with a new DOHC twin that had a gear-driven balancer and Yamaha's induction control system. Testers found it light, quick to steer and economical, though the soft suspension limited hard riding.
